Greetings! We have just a few new updates for you to chew on this weekend….
First, FYI, Glen scheduled his own gig on 17 June in Massachusetts, the first off-night of the Vedder tour. Tickets and details here. It was only announced a few days ago and it’s a small venue (an indie cinema) so best to be quick!
+ Glen performed at another Doveman organized show at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC with lots of other great musicians. Glen sang Lately by Stevie Wonder and everyone joined in for Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams.
+ Added 3 videos from an acoustic performance for 3Voor12 television in the Netherlands in August 2006. Sad Song, Falling Slowly & People Get Ready.
+ Created a page for The Swell Season documentary that premiered at the Tribeca Film Fest last Friday. We have the trailer, credits, previews, reviews and a link to a video of a Q+A with the directors.
+ posted yet another (very cool) gig poster
On a personal note, this weekend Shannon and I will be together in real life for the first time since the 20th gigs and since before we made this site! For the past 4 months I’ve been collecting donations for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and training to run a marathon in honor of Shannon’s daughter who has Type 1 diabetes. Shannon and her family will be out supporting me and it would be spectacular if any of you reading this could send out some good energy vibes to me Sunday morning (EST) if you remember!
To keep this relevant, I’ll share some of my favorite Frames songs for on the run, in particular order:
+ Fighting On The Stairs- it’s all about the beat
+ Fitzcarraldo- because if Fitz and his crew can pull a ship over a mountain, I certainly can run up that measly hill (Kate Bush also good for this)
+ Heyday- a true motivator…in running terms, the Frames take up Mic’s baton
+ Stars Are Underground- always good for a kick in the pants (and some air bass and drumming)
+ Keepsake- has a way of making your run seem more cinematic in a just burned my house down now i’m running away way
+ Revelate- it goes without saying, various versions of this are sprinkled through my ipod to be called upon when needed
+ 7 Day Mile- cause it’s just a matter of tiiiime, you’ve been running so fast….
+ Santa Maria- a slow burner, but epic during a windy downpour or snowfall
+ Monument- just like with Stars, go go go!
+ Crazy Horses– the Osmonds get you going, 26 April 2007 at 9:30 Club
+ Debaser– the Witnness 2003 version of this Pixies song is killer
Ok I’ll stop there, but if any wants to talk running or running+music, drop me and email or comment!
We’ll see you next time in the month of May (…month of May).
