Comments: Karl Odlum plays the banjo solo on ‘Rent Day Blues’ for the first time on this tour. For the encore, Glen returns to the stage carrying a mandolin, saying “I was given this gift yesterday. Welcome to the band, mandolin.” He plays REM’s ‘Hairshirt’ from the edge of the stage with no amplification.  Simon Good, a vital component to The Frames touring machine, straps on a guitar for ‘Heyday’, and with Karl Odlum on keyboards playing the Mic Christopher song, it’s a kind of magic. Also, ‘Banana Man’ makes an appearance with 10cc’s ‘Dreadlock Holiday’ added to the middle, offering an opportunity for Glen to announce, “I don’t like Joe Doyle, no! I fucking love him!”

This is one of our favorite things and we had to share! Ken Klaus was inspired in SF to make this super cool drawing of the moment before Joe’s song where Glen prompted the band to “Give him the strength, lads!”  You can find more of Ken’s artwork at refrigeratedcake.com (under construction for now!).
